Description of Doll for Sale

Here is is an interesting version of the classic American made Schoenhut wooden doll. He is 18 inches tall and is an the less often seen wooden walker body.  The wooden walker body features one piece arms and legs with a swing leg walker mechanism similar to that seen on some bisque dolls.  The body has the normal Schoenhut decal mark and copyright mark with the 1911 patent date.  The decal was used by Schoenhut starting in 1916 -1917.  The decal mark does not have the patent dates 1919 and 1920 for the patents on the walking mechanism so I assume this is an early version made in 1917 - 1918 (before the walker patents were granted).

This Schoenhut boy has been redressed in a new outfit that is so appropriate for a Schoenhut boy.  There is a sailer styled jacket and pants  with lots of ribbon trim details topped off with a cute cap.  Under the coat is a very detailed sweater.  The sweater even features buttons on the shoulders to make it easy to get on and off.  The outfit is finished with an excellent pair of reproduction oilcloth shoes and socks.  Because the doll is a walker there are no holes in the feet for a stand and as such the shoes don't need the holes in the soles typically seen on Schoenhut shoes.   The Schoenhut boy is wearing a vintage replacement mohair wig that is typical in style for Schoenhut boys.

The body is marked as follows:

Condition of Doll for Sale

The wooden body is sound with no chips, cracks or repairs.  The Schoenhut patented walker mechanism is all original and works smoothly.  The body and head have the majority of their original paint but there signs of touch up on the face and parts of the body.  (see pictures) You can click the pictures to see close-ups of the condition.  There is also some paint chipping on the body.  This leads me to assume that the repaint I am seeing was done quite a while ago.
