Description of BRU JneR Doll for Sale

This is a stunning example of a 21 inch BRU bisque head doll made in France around 1899.  This Bebe is marked BRU JneR.  She is wearing a replacement French human hair wig.  She also has antique shoes and crocheted socks.  The shoes are not marked BRU but they are of the proper style and quality and may still be original to the doll.  The dolls glass eyes are set.  This Bebe is wearing a replacement dress over antique underwear.  The underwear while antique is not original to this doll.

This doll is on a composition body with a Jumeau stamp.  The BRU JneR doll normally came on a Jumeau styled composition body with a BRU stamp on the shoulders. The body on this doll is the same style but has a Jumeau stamp on the small of the back.  In 1899 BRU, Jumeau and most other French doll makers merged to form the SFBJ company.  When this happened the new company managers scoured the warehouses of the different companies and assembled as many dolls as possible using parts in stock.  It is likely that this doll is one of these dolls.
