Description of Doll for Sale

I am thrilled to present an interesting example of a vintage European made lithographed tin toy from the 20's to 30's.  This is vintage doll buggy is made of pressed tin with metal wheels with a floral lithograph design on the sides. The Tin buggy measures 3 1/2" high x 4" long x 2" wide.  I could find no documented maker for this tin toy.

The "foreign" mark on the sides is intended to allow the tin toy to be imported into England under the Merchandise Marks Act of 1887.  The law required either the country of origin or "foreign" to be marked on goods imported into England.  This tin toy was likely made by a smaller European maker, likely German. Larger makers would have likely marked the country of origin so they could also export to the US. The "foreign" mark may also have been used by a German maker to avoid English prejudice against Germany following the first world war.

Condition of Doll for Sale

The lithographed tin body is in near mint condition with no rust or repainting.  The metal wheels are still shiny and bright.   There are some scratches to the paint .  The worst of them is on the cover where it pivots (see pictures). You can click the pictures to see close-ups of the condition.
